The Tyger |
La Tigre |
Tyger ! Tyger! Burning bright | Tigre! Tigre! Divampante fulgore |
In the forests of the night, | Nelle foreste della notte, |
What immortal hand or eye | Quale fu limmortale mano o locchio |
Could frame thy fearful symmetry? | Chebbe la forza di formare la tua agghiacciante simmetria? |
In what distant deeps or skies | In quali abissi o in quali cieli |
Burnt the fire of thine eyes? | Accese il fuoco dei tuoi occhi? |
On what wings dare he aspire? | Sopra quali ali osa slanciarsi? |
What the hand dare seize the fire? | E quale mano afferra il fuoco? |
And what shoulder, and what art, | Quali spalle, quale arte |
Could twist the sinews of thy heart? | Poté torcerti i tendini del cuore? |
And when thy heart began to beat, | E quando il tuo cuore ebbe il primo palpito, |
What dread hand? And what dread feet? | Quale tremenda mano? Quale tremendo piede? |
What the hammer? What the chain? | Quale mazza e quale catena? |
In what furnace was thy brain? | Il tuo cervello fu in quale fornace? |
What the anvil? What dread grasp | E quale incudine? |
Dare its deadly terrors grasp? | Quale morsa robusta osò serrarne i terrori funesti? |
When the stars threw down their spears, | Mentre gli astri perdevano le lance tirandole alla terra |
And waterd heaven with their tears | e il paradiso empivano di pianti? |
Did he smile his work to see? | Fu nel sorriso che ebbe osservando compiuto il suo lavoro, |
Did he who made the Lamb make thee? | Chi lAgnello creò, creò anche te? |
Tyger! Tyger! Burning bright | Tigre! Tigre! Divampante fulgore |
In the forests of the night, | Nelle foreste della notte, |
What immortal hand or eye, | Quale mano, quale immortale spia |
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry? | Osa formare la tua agghiacciante simmetria? |

The Human Abstract
(traduzione di A.Buccianti)
Pity would be no more, | Non esisterebbe più Pietà |
If we did not make somebody Poor: | Se noi non generassimo la Povertà: |
And Mercy no more could be, | E non potrebbe più esistere Misericordia, |
If all were as happy as we: | Se tutti fossimo ugualmente felici: |
And mutual fear brings peace: | E dalla paura reciproca nasce la pace: |
Till the selfish loves increase. | Finchè dallegoismo cresce lamore. |
Then Cruelty knits a snare, | Allora Crudeltà tesse una rete, |
And spreads his baits with care. | E le proprie insidie sparge con cura. |
He sits down with holy fears, | Si posa racchiusa in sacri timori, |
And waters the ground with tears | E bagna la terra del suo pianto: |
Then Humility takes its root | Allora Umiltà le proprie radici |
Underneath his foot. | Sotto quei piedi affonda. |
Soon spreads the dismal shade | Ben presto stende lombra cupa |
Of Mystery over his head; | Del Mistero sopra il suo capo; |
And the Catterpiller and Fly, | E il Bruco e lInsetto, |
Feed on the Mystery. | Di questo Mistero si nutrono. |
And it bears the fruit of Deceit, | Ed esso porta il frutto dellImpostura, |
Ruddy and sweet to eat, | Vivido e dolce al palato: |
And the Raven his nest has made | Anche il Corvo il nido ha fatto |
In its thickest shade. | Nellombra sua più fitta. |
The Gods of the earth and sea, | Gli Dèi della terra e dei mari, |
Sought throNature to find this Tree | La Natura han setacciato per trovare questAlbero |
But their search was all in vain, | Ma la loro ricerca fu tutta vana, |
There grows one in the Human Brain. | Ne cresce uno solo nella Mente Umana. |

Penso senza rinuncia a te, a me, a noi. Amo a te, amo in me. Il respiro va e viene vita, affetto, intenzione. In me. In due.
